Reminder: Lane Restrictions This Weekend on I-81 in Cumberland County

Harrisburg, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reminds travelers that lane restrictions are anticipated on Interstate 81 this weekend, May 3-6, so concrete pavement patching, and asphalt paving can be performed on a section of the interstate near Carlisle in Cumberland County.

Weather permitting, weekend lane closures for concrete patching and asphalt paving are scheduled from 9:00 PM Friday, May 3, to 6:00 AM Monday, May 6, from Mile 53.5 to Mile 55, which is about midway between the Route 11 and Route 114 exits. The left lanes of I-81 will be closed in both directions. A rain date is set for May 10 to May 13.

This work is part of a 12.85-mile resurfacing project that consists of milling, base replacement, concrete pavement patching, minor drainage, ADA ramps, paving, traffic counter site repair and other miscellaneous construction on Interstate 81 from Route 15/Enola in East Pennsboro Township, to Route 581/Lambs Gap Road in Hampden Township.

New Enterprise Stone and Lime Company, Inc., of New Enterprise, PA, is the prime contractor on this $24.5 million project.
